Diagonal Flying
Diagonal flying is a short move that involves a circling, stepping out and opening movement. It ends with probably the only position where your yin arm is higher than your yang arm.
How to do it
- Start from the closing position of repulse monkey – weight on left leg, left hand at hip forward with right foot and hand as shown below
- Circle your arms clockwise so your left hand is over your right
- Step back and to the right with your right foot and turn it to face North
- As you transfer your weight to your right leg twist your waist to face the North and extend your arms out keeping your right hand palm up (yin) and your left hand palm down (yang). Aim to finish all parts of the move at the same time.
This gives a lovely stretch to the front of your body and the slightly larger step opens the hips and strengthens the legs and balance.
